fact that Siyabonga Sangweni scored two goals at the Africa Nations Cup should not
surprise you. Bafana Bafana’s soldier in the heart of defence is not new to
scoring important goals for club and country.
A quick glance at some of Sangweni’s career goals and you will notice in a hurry that ‘Ntsimbi’ has a knack for scoring when it counts and the Moses Mabhida Stadium is one of his favourite hunting grounds.
The Orlando Pirates star smiled from ear to ear after his goal in the 2-0 win over Angola saying, “That is my favourite side to score” in reference to the fact that he has scored a few on the south side of the stadium.
Then, with South Africa trailing Morocco 2-1 in the final Group A game, Sangweni scored the crucial equalizer to help his side finish top of Group A.
This time he netted a stunning goal on the north side of the field and his technique resembled a centre forward in prime form.
“I told the guys at the back let me go up front and try our luck and I will add something,” Sangweni said.
“Things are going in my favour now. It is nothing else but God allowing me to do this.”
