Cameroonian international striker Samuel Eto’o officially announced his return to the national team this Thursday.

The decision was expected after the former Barcelona player met with the Cameroonian First Minister Philémon Yang on Tuesday in Yaoundé.

The head of government therefore succeeded in convincing the Anzhi Makhachkala player to come to the aid of the Indomitable Lions, who find themselves in a spot of danger since their defeat 2-0 at the hands of Cape Verde during the first leg of the final round of Afcon 2013 qualifiers.

In a press release, Samuel Eto’o stated: “On the request of the High Authority of the Republic, I have accepted to reconsider my position and to again place myself at the disposal of the Indomitable Lions, motivated by one single desire: to serve my country with the same faith, the same ardour and the same determination as I have over the past fifteen years.”

Thus we see the return of the man who will hopefully contribute to giving the Cameroonian people renewed hope in view of their second leg clash against Cape Verde, which promises to be a highly-charged affair.
