Mulenga banished by Renard
Zambia coach Herve Renard has declared winger Clifford Mulenga will never play for Chipolopolo as long as he remains in charge of the 2012 African champions.

Renard insisted that banishing Mulenga, who features for South African club Bloemfontein Celtic, from the Africa Cup of Nations after breaking curfew in Malabo on January 30 was the right thing to do.

“Of course, he can get another chance to play for Zambia, but not under Herve Renard," Renard told Supersport magazine programme Soccer Africa.

"I am not in Zambia forever.

“It was not a difficult decision, we wanted to show the other players that respect was important.

"You have to show respect for the squad and maybe that was the first mistake but you cannot always repeat the same mistake,”

Mulenga was sent back from the Nations Cup just 24 hours after Zambia beat Equatorial Guinea 1-0 on January 29 to finish top of Group A to see both teams reach the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Renard has now been offered a new three-year deal that will see him remain as Zambia coach until August 2014.
