Katongo wants Zambia to beat AFCON target
Zambia skipper Christopher Katongo has revealed that the Chipolopolo set a target of a quarterfinal finish at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, but they now wish to go past that bench mark.
Katongo said the time had come for the team to go one step further than 2010 in Angola when they reached their first last eight placing since 1996 in South Africa.
"We had a target to reach the quarterfinals we have done it and now we are looking forward to making it to the semi-finals and are taking it one step at a time," he said. Katongo also said that there are no longer easy games at the Africa Cup as Chipolopolo head into Saturday’s Nations Cup quarterfinal against Sudan in Bata.
Herve Renard's side are 90 minutes away from their first semi-final berth since 1996, if they can beat Sudan, who are also hoping to end a 42-year-old trophy drought.
Katongo said that the team were not going to underrate Sudan despite beating them 3-0 in their last meeting at Ghana 2008 Africa Cup in a Group C game played in Kumasi.
"Nobody has played an easy game so everybody has tuned their minds that it will be a difficult game and everyone is focused on the match," said Katongo in Bata on Friday.
"We have been focused since we started the tournament. This game is very important and we want to go to the next round."

I am praying with a positive mind that Zambia should win the 2012 AFCON. Be proud Zambia.
