Super Eagles AFCON Watch
Joel Obi - Still out in the cold at Inter Milan
Victor Moses shamed by loss
Ideye continues to press for a place on the AFCON squad, but
Joel Obi is again missing for Inter as MTNFootball.com x-rays the performances of Super Eagles stars
ahead of the Nations Cup.
Brown Ideye: Dynamo Kiev striker scored his 13th goal of the season in a 4-2 win over Hoverla. He continues to good for a place at the AFCON.
Mikel Obi: He played his first full game under Benitez, showing his usual calmness in front of the Chelsea defence at West Ham.
Victor Moses: Chelsea winger saw 78 minutes of action against West Ham and was involved in Chelsea only goal of the game. His pace was too much for West Ham defenders. His performance on Saturday has enhanced his place at the Nations Cup.
Victor Obinna Nsofor: He was again instrumental to Lokomotiv Moscow victory as he provided the assist for the goal that gave his side 1-0 away win over Alania. His effort though may be coming too late for him to be considered for the AFCON.
Lukman Haruna: Dynamo Kiev midfielder opened scoring for his team’s weekend win over Hoverla. He will not be returning to South Africa after he featured at the last World Cup there.
Emmanuel Emenike: He scored his eighth goal of the season in 4-2 home loss to champions Zenit. He has finally ended his goal drought spanning several weeks and that can only help his cause to be at the AFCON.
Vincent Enyeama: Eagles No.1 goalkeeper was in action for Maccabi Tel Aviv in a 4-0 bashing of Bnei Sakhnin. He was commanding in goal. He is sure bet to be in South Africa.
Ahmed Musa: The flying winger saw action for entire duration as CSKA Moscow fell 2-0 to Anzhi. His place on the Eagles squad is assured as he remains consistent in Russia.
Efe Ambrose: The central defender was in action as usual for Celtic in Scottish Cup tie against Arbroath. The game ended 1-1. He was ever present in the heart of defence. He is on the train to South Africa.
Joseph Yobo: Eagles skipper saw full-game action for Fenerbahce in Turkey against Kayserispor. The game ended 1-1. Yobo has put his injury worries behind him and now a sure bet for the AFCON.
Obafemi Martins: He was on from start to finish for Levante in a 1-1 draw at Celta Vigo. Martins need to do more to move up the Eagles pecking order.
