Niger suffered their second loss in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, losing 2-1 to Tunisia in Libreville, but unlike the first match, the debutants were able to shake off the stage fright.

The Mena could count themselves unlucky not to get at least a point from this match after creating more clear-cut chances on the night.

Although he ended up on the losing side, the man who stood head and shoulders above the rest was striker Moussa Maazou who did everything except putting the ball into the back of the net.

The 23-year-old Niger striker not only won the physical duels, but he also surprised the defenders with his pace and overall stamina and power.

At times, Maazou galloped like a 400-metre sprinter leaving Tunisia’s defenders in his wake.

Tunisia’s Youssef Msakni, who scored the opening goal for the Carthage Eagles and had other memorable moments throughout the game, was another candidate for man of the match.

On any other night, Msakni would have walked the award, and is set to play a key role in Tunisia’s progress in the event.
