Tournament Review:
Undoubtedly Msakni was one of Tunisia’s best midfielders having played in all four games and found the back of the net on two separate occasions with one of his goals coming in his country’s opening match against Morocco which proved to be the winner.
His other goal came in the fourth minute in Tunisia’s second game against Niger.
At 21-years-old, this 2012 Afcon was his second showing in the continents show-piece and he did not disappoint with his attacking midfield abilities.
Pre-Tournament Profile:
Another player who helped Esperance win the 2011 CAF Champions League, Youssef Msakni faces some stiff competition if he is to break into the Tunisian starting XI for the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
The 21-year-old isa fine all round footballer and a star of the future, but his relative inexperience does count against him somewhat.
He started his career at Stade Tunisien before moving to Esperance in 2008.
He was part of Tunisia’s squad at the 2010 AFCON in Angola.
