Tournament Review:
The captain was undoubtedly the best player of the tournament for the Atlas Lions, and although he finished the tournament with three goals he will be disappointed that his efforts ended in defeat.
Kharja bundled in a late consolation goal as Morocco went down to Tunisia 2-1, and scored twice during the 3-2 loss to Gabon.
He turned his marker before beating the goalkeeper for his first goal, while the second came via a well-taken penalty kick.
He also started the last match against Niger but had to be taken off just before the break due to an injury.
Pre-Tournament Profile:
Kharja began his career with Paris Saint-Germain's youth side before joining Portuguese side Sporting Clube de Portugal in 2000, with whom he spent one season before moving to Ternana in 2001.
He also spent the 2005/06 season on loan with Roma before signing a three year contract with Serie B team Piacenza in 2007.
He also had spells with Siena and Genoa and later joined Internazionale on a loan deal in 2011.
Inter did not exercise their option to sign him at the end of the season and he joined Fiorentina on a two-year contract at the start of the 2011/12 season.
