Tournament Review:
Arguably Equatorial Guinea’s best player at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, right wingback David Alvarez, or ‘Kily’, was an energetic and creative presence.
He played in three of the co-hosts’ four matches and scored that highly memorable goal against Senegal that handed Nzalang Nacional and famous win and secured their place in the quarterfinals.
Pre-Tournament Profile:
The right-sided player was born in Avilés, Spain, but has been naturalised to play for the Equatorial Guinea national side.
He can operate as a wing-back or a right-winger and currently turns out for Spanish fourth-tier side Langreo.
He was once on the books of Atletico Madrid B though and played almost 50 matches for them.
He has had something of a journeyman career in the Spanish lower leagues, but joined his current side in 2010.
