The Nigeriens are a difficult proposition in Niamey and will fancy their chances in the second leg against a Guinea side who might have expected to have more of a cushion for when they arrived in Niger next month.
But in the end they had to make due with a single goal scored by Ibrahim Yattara midway through the second half.
Guinea have appeared in four of the last five Nations Cup finals – missing out in 2010, while Niger reached their first ever finals tournament in 2012.
