DR Congo thrash Equatorial Guinea
DR Congo have all but sealed their place at
the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations after a 4-0 success in the first leg of their
final round qualifier against Equatorial Guinea in Kinshasa on Sunday.
The win was achieved via a hat-trick from Dieumerci
Mbokani, while Deo Kanda got the other goal.
It was a frustrating first half for Claude
Le Roy’s side, who dominated proceedings but could not find the breakthrough.
That finally emerged when Jean Kasusula
provided an inch-perfect cross for Mbokani to head home.
Kanda’s goal was a great individual effort
as he burst into the box, beat two defenders and fired past the goalkeeper.
Mbokani got his second when he knocked home
the rebound after Issama Mpeko’s shot had been saved, while his hat-trick came
via an assist from Zola Matumona.
