Mali cruise to Botswana win
Mali have completed a comfortable 3-0
victory over Botswana in the first leg of their 2013 Africa Cup of Nations
qualifier in Bamako on Saturday.
The Maliens, who finished third at the 2012
finals in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, will certainly expect to complete the
job in the return fixture in Gaborone next month.
The Botswanans were simply outgunned and
have recently battled to rediscover the form that took them to those 2012
finals.
Cheick Diabate put Mali ahead on 27 minutes
from the penalty spot, before Tenima Enday added a second just before the hour
mark.
That lead was made more comfortable by
Modibo Maiga scoring again for the hosts 20 minutes before the end in what was
ultimately a routine victory.
