Liberia get draw to advance
Anthony Laffor
Liberia have sealed their passage
through to the final round of qualifying for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations
with a 0-0 draw in Namibia on Saturday night.
Leading 1-0 from the first leg in
Monrovia in February, a draw was always going to be enough for the Lone Stars.
And despite a less than ideal buildup
that saw them axe former skipper Anthony Laffor from their squad for
disciplinary reasons, they managed to hold on for the draw in Windhoek.
Liberia have only been to two previous
Nations Cup finals, their last 2002. But they will draw hope from the fact that
their first appearance was in 1996, the last time that 2013 hosts South Africa
stages the competition.
