Cape Verde safely through
Cape Verde Islands completed a comfortable
3-1 victory over Madagascar on Saturday to advance to the final round of
qualifying for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
The result gave the Cape Verdiens a 7-1
aggregate victory, after they had demolished their hosts 4-0 in the away leg in
February.
Their healthy lead in the tie meant the pressure
was off going into this fixture, but they still managed to exert their
dominance and took a 3-0 lead, before the Malagasy pulled one back late on.
Cape Verde have never before qualified for
the Nations Cup finals, but did come close to sealing their place at the 2012
event, before falling away late in qualifying.
