Known by the full name of Gervais Yao Kouassi, Gervinho was the captain of Cote d’Ivoire’s Olympic team in the last Summer Games in 2008 and was a member of the Elephants’ 2008 and 2010 Africa Cup of Nations squads and also represented the west Africans at the 2010 World Cup.

The hugely talented player graduated from the ASEC academy and Belgium’s Beveren before moving on to Ligue 1 with Lille.

He helped the French club win a league and cup double in 2010/11 and his exploits caught the eye of Arsene Wenger, who brought him to Arsenal prior to the start of the 2011/12 season.

The 24-year-old will look to make a big impact in his first season in the Premier League.
